Our Principles

It’s our principles that make us that little bit different from other supply chain partners?

At our core we have very specific values that inform our relationships and our business decisions. These form the Emulous Water Charter:

We commit to upholding the Armed Forces Covenant

Our Carbon Negative Agenda

For every project we do, we are working towards offsetting double the carbon emissions associated with that piece of work.

This means each time you choose to work with Emulous Water, you are having a positive impact on our planet.

Our inspiration for this is driven by a diversity of research and best practice examples. We hope and encourage our customers to support this approach.

We are also members of Surfers Against Sewage and Ocean Network, and actively engage with projects that protect and enhance our waterways and natural landscapes.

Context:

In 1958, for the first time, scientists in Hawaii measured atmospheric carbon concentrations at 315 parts per million (ppm). Ice core samples show that this was already the highest level for 800,000 years. By 2013 this had further risen by almost 1/3rd to 400 ppm.

By December 2022 the increase was at 418 ppm and continues to increase by 2 to 3 ppm every year. As carbon concentrations continue to rise, the climate damage caused becomes more evident. The world is on course to exceed 1.5 degrees Celsius of warming, and without action is expected to eventually peak at 2.6/2.7 degrees Celsius of warming (citation ‘Engineering Matters Carbon Crunch’).

The primary damage resulting from these increases is ‘Climate Change’. We believe this must be the focus of our Sustainability and Net Zero policy. We also believe that we have a responsibility to care for our environment and the planet more generally.

Emulous Water is committed to collaboration with clients and suppliers as part of an interconnected decarbonisation journey.
